Christian Theology & Apologetics

Salt-Shaker

You are the salt of the earth…” Matthew 5:13

What if Christianity could be broken down to an exact science and perfectly illustrated like a mathematical equation? Well, it can’t… So we came up with Theologetics to make difficult Biblical and theological concepts easier to understand and organized different apologetic arguments regarding tough questions of today. We also house various personally written papers by various individuals on different theological topics and info graphics here.

Check out our new devotional: 33 Attributes of God

Our mission is to provide free witnessing tools to believers, give answers for those who seek, and help bring the truth to those who do not believe. Just imagine the impact it would have if every Christian investigated the theological and apologetic issues skeptics have that are so prevalent in culture today. And if you are a believer, imagine how this knowledge could strengthen your witness, adding to your personal testimony and how God has moved in your life.

So we are an online library of theological arguments, witnessing tools and a “taken with a grain of salt” resource for Christians. What this means is that every paper and resource presented on our site shouldn’t be taken as truth alone but we encourage our readers to compare everything they read to Scripture to reveal the truth (that’s kind of our life motto anyway).

What Our Name Means

Theology + Apologetics

Theology – the·ol·o·gy

The study of the (Christian) religious faith, practice, and experience: the study of God and God’s relation to the world.

Apologetics – a·pol·o·get·ics

A branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity.

“. . . but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence,” (1 Peter 3:15)

The Basics

Our Statement of Belief

Every paper and blog presented on our site will serve to promote these Biblical doctrines and ideas.

The Bible (Bibliology)
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. That it is inerrant in its original manuscripts. We believe that the Scriptures were written by the hand of man, empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We believe the only authoritative Scripture is the 66 books given to us in the form of the Holy Bible.

God (Theology Proper)
We believe God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is eternally existing in 3 persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) consisting of the same essence and same substance (homoousia). We believe he desires a personal relationship with every human being. We also believe what is most important about the creation account is that God is the author of creation and that sin is responsible for death and our separation from God.

Jesus (Christology)
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, the Creator (John 1:1). We believe Jesus Christ was physically born of a virgin according to ancient prophecy (Matthew 1:18-25) and that He lived a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 3:5). We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, and that he rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4); that He was the Messiah, foretold by prophecy, presented as King of the Jews but rejected (John 1:11). We believe that he is equal with God yet humbled himself to the point of death, and that every knee will one day bow to him and declare him Lord (John 5:18, Philippians 2:6-11).

Holy Spirit (Pneumatology)
We believe the Holy Spirit is a personal being. We believe that He is the third person in the Godhead (Acts 5:3-4). That He is given to all that are born again through Jesus Christ. We believe He is given as our Helper, to convict of sin, to sanctify us, and to lead us to all truth (John 16:8-13, 2 Thessalonians 2:13).

Man (Anthropology)
We believe all of mankind is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26). We believe mankind was sinless until we disobeyed God in the garden. We believe all mankind since then has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory and stands condemned without faith in Jesus (Romans 5:12, 3:23). We believe that God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:3-6). We believe that human life (personhood) begins at conception.

Sin (Hamartiology)
We believe sin is the breaking of God’s laws (1 John 3:4). We believe that all mankind is equally guilty because of sin; that the breaking of one law is the same as breaking them all in God’s eyes (James 2:10). We believe all sin is infinitely offensive to God because of God’s infinite holiness. We believe that the consequence of sin is death, not only physical death but spiritual death as well, which is eternal separation from God.

Salvation (Soteriology):
We believe in God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility. We believe that it is only through Jesus that anyone is saved (Acts 4:12). We believe the Father draws men to faith in Jesus (John 6:44). We believe it is only through faith and not good works that man receives salvation (Ephesians 2:8). We believe only those who have received salvation have been adopted as God’s children (Romans 8:15) which begins the process of spiritual growth evident by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), a transformed life (Romans 6), and good works (Ephesians 2:10).

The End Times (Eschatology)
We believe all who have placed their faith in Jesus will spend eternity with Him (John 3:16). We believe in a literal second return of Jesus (John 14:1-3, Hebrews 9:28, Revelation 1:7) after which He will reign on earth (Revelation 20:1-6). We believe that at the end, the lake of fire is reserved for the wicked (Rev. 21:8), the beast, false prophet, devil, and Death (Rev.19-20). Amen
